Content Decay
Rankings decay over time as competitors update and facts age — usually a slow bleed, not a sudden drop. The Content Decay audit catches it early so you refresh the right pages instead of only writing new ones.
How it detects decay
It compares each page's recent Search Console window against the prior one (both maintained by the daily sync) and classifies at-risk pages:
- Decaying — impressions down materially → Refresh (or Rewrite if the loss is severe).
- Recoverable — impressions down but CTR up (lost position, engaged users) → Refresh + reclaim position.
- SERP feature — impressions steady but CTR fell (an AI Overview or snippet is taking the clicks) → Optimize for AI / snippet.
Each row shows the impressions/clicks/position change and the recommended action, with summary tiles for At risk / Decaying / Healthy pages.
One-click refresh
Any at-risk page that maps to one of your articles has a Refresh button. It reuses the improvement pipeline to make a real update — add genuinely missing subtopics vs. the current top-10, replace stale stats, re-align to current intent, and strengthen the title/meta and internal links — never a fake date bump.
Requirements
The audit needs Search Console connected and two comparison windows, so it stays empty for the first few daily syncs, then populates. The autopilot worker also logs how many pages are at risk per site.
